Love the sound of the stream. Sounds so wonderfully alive and promotes life and everything good through its existence. When you spoke of fish patties, was wondering if that would mean flooded rice paddies that live fish swim through and around. There was one comment on your Times of India article where someone questioned whether the music festival was monetizing the culture of indigenous tribes. And it sounds like it wasn't because the tribes would hold on to their culture and received legitimately deserved monetary support for their culture and themselves. If someone would want indigenous tribes to remain poverty stricken to preserve their culture I don't think that's a good idea or a humanitarian optic. People all over the world want to improve their circumstances and it would seem the music festival helps with that. The one's who threaten the indigenous tribes culture are the corrupt officials who earn money from unlimited development that disrespect the otherwise pretty much pristine character of the hills there. The choking smog environmental conditions of Delhi conflict with it's hurried progressive development that maybe helps larger amounts of people to move out of poverty but at such a huge penalty exacted by wholesale damage to the environment. I don't know what the answer is. I just really appreciate the Dusty Mic Chronicles telling about the places, people and conditions we wouldn't know about except from your posts and podcasts. Looking forward to forthcoming reports.

I must improve my diction further! Fish paddy farming is what I meant!

I don't think the festival is monetizing the local culture but, when they ask the locals to dance, I sometimes wonder if they reduce the local culture to a spectacle.

One way on this is to ask them whether they want to dance or is they want to say or do as part of the festival. If we are guests at their festival how show it be? Offer them a voice as to how the festival should be or what are the most important things about it to them. The festival originators or curators may be doing that already. Always good to let others that you care how there are able to sustain themselves. But it sounds like a great event for everyone. I will look up fish paddies farming. Your syntax and diction are fine you have a really good writing voice that makes you, and not anyone else. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Thanks! I don’t know if the local people want to dance. When I saw them dancing at the fair, I thought they were going through the motions, in stark contrast to how they would dance in their local environment.

I would go through the motions, and resent being put up as a spectacle.
