The dilapidated crumbling colonial architecture is seen all over India and this in Calcutta is particularly disheartening. The new building will never be like the old so the past will be lost to that degree unless new construction remixes elements of the old. But it is good to see reality. And the YMCA lodging seems well kept. Some architecture can be rebuilt if hasn't become to far gone. Thanks for this short Calcutta video tour.
Many thanks. Yeah. And it is difficult nowadays when the government wants to erase the colonial and Mughal past. A shame, I think. The YMCA - I used to stay there when I visited Calcutta over the weekend. My budget for the weekend was 0.5 US Dollars, including transport, accommodation and food. Not bad, eh?
Futuristic is not necessarily an upgrade. It can be a huge downgrade and return to feudal government of a few rich nobles and the rest poor as church mice. Fifty cents for a weekend in Calcutta? Such a deal.
True, but hope there is still some goodness left and some deals that help to be found.
Inshah'A llah!!

I agree with you. We have a fascist government: talk about 'the people' but feed the rich.!
