Rajiv,

Really like these pictures of Anand Bhawan and it's significance in the life stories of Indira Gandhi and Nehru. Your post offers context to the Hindi film "Emergency" and to historian Tripurdaman Singh's book "Sixteen Stormy Days" which concerns a constitutional crisis Nehru faced as Prime Minister. Tripurdaman writes about how Nehru viewed India in relation to its Constitution and compares it to America's Constitution. And he brilliantly describes Nehru's allies and antagonists together with his thoughts concerning their claims leading to the actions for better or for worse that he took. I have included links to my previous articles with more information about the film and the book for anyone who might be interested. I enjoy how you will travel to view historic buildings, mansions and historic landmarks and take great pictures of how they are now and tell us about them from your own experiences which is sometimes why you are visiting them and why they are important in India's history. I think Anand Bhawan is a special place, so thanks so much for this post!

Nice read, you write well and I like the length of your articles.

I was in Allahabad from my 8th Std (1973) to 11th Std.

It was my home till by father retired from I T I Naini in 1985.

I was in KGP for studies then at Tisco, Jamshedpur

I decided to comment to this article as it brought back memories of Allahabad

and also the numerous visits to Anand Bhawan for showing it to visitors.

Thanis a million! I graduated from IIT Kharagpur also, and started my career with Mukand, Bombay.

I will travel back to Allahabad, as part of a longer trip I have in mind. In 2027
